FORT MYERS, Fla. (May 18, 2021) – John Wright, Sanibel Captiva Community Bank’s executive vice president, chief financial officer and chief operating officer, has been elected to the Florida SouthWestern State College Foundation board of directors.
Wright was recently promoted to the bank’s executive vice president, chief financial and operating officer. With more than 30 years of experience in community banking, he has worked for several community banking institutions in Maryland.
“I’m honored to join the FSW Foundation board and look forward to helping elevate one of Southwest Florida’s strongest assets,” said Wright. “There’s a natural partnership between SanCap Bank and FSW, as we’re both fiscally responsible organizations that are part of the backbone of this amazing community.”
FSW helps students elevate their opportunities to earn associate and bachelor’s degrees in several areas, including cardiopulmonary sciences, elementary education, nursing and public safety administration. In addition, many FSW graduates continue on to earn master’s degrees in nursing, education, business administration and psychology. Seventy percent of students graduate debt-free and the remaining 30% see an average debt of only $10,400, roughly half the cost of Florida’s public state universities.
Annually, the foundation provides close to $2 million in student scholarships and program support to benefit over 22,000 students, including funding for academic programs, new technology, and new or improved facilities. The FSW Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and by the State of Florida as a Direct Support Organization for Florida SouthWestern State College.
