Sanibel Island, Fla. (May 30, 2023) – Sanibel Captiva Community Bank has reopened its Main Office at 2406 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel Island. Since November, the bank was using its boardroom as a temporary branch while construction continued on the remainder of the building. Before moving operations into the boardroom, the bank was offering banking services in the parking lot for seven weeks after Hurricane Ian caused minor water damage to the building.
The bank purchased the building on Periwinkle Way in 2020 to relocate its original main office at 2475 Library Way, Sanibel. Benchmark Construction did an extensive renovation and doors opened in January 2021. The location features a two-lane drive-thru, drive-up ATM, board room, solar panels, and an electric car charging station. Named in honor of the late bank director Ken Nirenberg, who passed away in 2020, the Ken Nirenberg Community Room will be available to not-for-profit and community organizations to use at no cost.
“We couldn’t be happier to reopen our main office on Sanibel to welcome our customers, friends and community members back into our beautifully renovated building,” said Kyle DeCicco, Sanibel Captiva Community Bank president and chief executive officer. “All of us especially our Main Office staff are excited to get back into our offices, resume some normalcy and serve our customers in the environment they’re accustomed to.”
Seven of the bank’s eight locations are now open. The Periwinkle Branch, located at 1019 Periwinkle Way, sustained considerable storm damage and is projected to reopen in early 2024. In Fort Myers, the bank’s McGregor Branch, located at 15975 McGregor Blvd., the staff is operating out of a temporary mobile banking unit due to major flood damage to the existing building.
