FORT MYERS, Fla. (Sept. 1, 2026) – Sanibel Captiva Community Bank recently sponsored a Blessings in a Backpack Southwest Florida Chapter packing event to provide weekend meals to approximately 300 students at Franklin Park Elementary School.
Twenty bank employees gathered to assemble food bags filled with nutritious, shelf-stable items for students who may otherwise face food insecurity when school is not in session. Through Blessings in a Backpack, participating students receive food to help bridge the gap between Friday’s school lunch and Monday’s school breakfast, ensuring they have access to nourishment over the weekend.
“As one of the only community banks in Southwest Florida, supporting our community isn’t just what we do, it’s who we are,” said Amy McQuagge, director of marketing and community outreach for Sanibel Captiva Community Bank. “Community impact is about so much more than writing a check. It’s about listening, learning where needs exist and finding meaningful ways to help fill the gaps. That’s why opportunities like this are so important to us. We’re able to provide financial support while also bringing employees together to volunteer and make a direct impact on the lives of local children.”
