FORT MYERS, Fla. (Feb. 1, 2024) – Sanibel Captiva Community Bank has donated $25,000 to Pace Center for Girls Lee’s capital improvement campaign, Every Girl Deserves. The goal is to raise $1 million over two years to address lingering damage from Hurricane Ian and the school’s aging facilities. The improvements will enhance the learning environment and expand the dedicated space for its Reach Therapy program.
The campaign is focused on building improvements and repairs to help increase safety and security measures and create an environment that promotes health and wellness for the girls. Funds raised will support improvements including a total roof replacement, installation of extra security cameras and intercom system, the addition of a more secure visitor entrance, expansion of Reach Therapy offices, replacement of HVAC clean-air units, the addition of an outdoor recreational space and more.
Pace Center for Girls Lee provides girls and young women an opportunity for a better future through education, counseling, training and advocacy. Pace Lee opened in 2007 after Judge James Seals brought an initiative before community leaders to open a center that could focus on the gender-specific needs of at-risk girls in the Lee County area. Since that time, Pace Lee has served hundreds of girls throughout Lee County through its academic Day Program and Pace Reach programs. For more information visit, pacecenter.org/locations/florida/lee.
