Sanibel Residents and Businesses Information
Postal customers in Captiva, Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel affected by Hurricane Ian have a new locations for mail and package pick-up. The new location is at the Fort Myers Processing & Distribution Center, 14080 Jetport Loop in Fort Myers. A mobile retail unit has been set up in the parking lot to assist customers with mailing and shipping needs, stamp and money order purchases and change of address requests. This new location will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

FEMA Individual Assistance – FEMA may help you and members of your household affected by a disaster take care of necessary expenses and needs that cannot be met through insurance or other forms of assistance
DisasterAssistance.gov – provides disaster survivors with information, support, services and a means to access and apply for disaster assistance through joint data-sharing efforts between federal, tribal, state, local, and private sectors
United Way 211 – provides free information and referral to human/social service agencies within Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties
USA.gov – available financial assistance within designated natural disaster areas
Operation Blue Roof – managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and provides homeowners and permanently occupied rental properties in disaster areas sheeting to cover damaged roofs until permanent repairs can be made
IRS Disaster Assistance and Emergency Relief for Individuals and Businesses – victims of Hurricane Ian in Florida now have until Feb. 15, 2023 to file various tax returns and make payments
IRS Excise Tax – IRS will waive tax penalties on disasters on a case-by-case basis
State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) – if your home sustained damage as a result of the storm this program may have recovery assistance available to help with temporary relocation, rental assistance, debris removal and/or home repairs
